Happy Friday, everyone!
So, I have some very exciting news! I have made the decision to have a rebrand and evolve my business whilst coming in to my second year! It is currently still under process but over the next few days, (hopefully), the business will be changing logo and also changing titles to...…. ** DRUM ROLL ** NB Fitness & Therapy I feel this change is very apt, more professional and also much more accurate of a name that depicts what I want to provide you! Thank you Nicole This is my final week to reach my first goal!
In July when I first started working in Lifestyle Fitness, I set myself a goal. I was 12 stone 4.4lbs at the time but I wanted to get to 11 stone 7lbs by the 11th November 2017. This is because I have a wedding to go to with my boyfriend as his cousin is getting married! Now, previously this would have been a very scary process for me as I've always struggled with motivation and maintaining my fitness and nutrition programme to actually reach a goal that I had set in the past. But this time I was determined it was going to be different. I haven't been able/comfortable enough to wear a dress or shorts or a skirt in quite some time now - about 2 years properly. (When I have worn them, they've been on occasions like a Ball or wearing shorts with tights, but I always felt so self conscious). But I was determined to get to that 1 stone 7lbs and feel comfortable in a NICE dress that didn't hide my stomach or arms or any other part that made me feel insecure. My last weigh in was last Thursday on the 2nd November and I was 11 stone 8.8lbs!! Only 1.8lbs off my first target weight!! I'm so happy with my progress and even my measurements are slowly dropping too! My waist has dropped 3/4", my stomach 1/2", a whole inch off of both my thighs and an amazing 3" off of my hips!! Overall I have lost 9.8lbs with just 1.8lbs to go so hopefully by Saturday I'd have hit that loss of 11.6lbs and wear the dress I bought at the weekend happily and have a great time with Alex at the wedding! My next goal is to get to 11 stone by New Years Eve! So another 7lbs loss over 6 weeks! If I keep focused and keep working hard in the gym, I definitely think I can do it! I'm extremely proud of myself and I can't wait to see where I'll get to by this time next year!! This week has been quite busy in terms of work this week. I've picked up several new clients and increased my training schedule so I've not had that much time to myself! But I've been really happy about it. It means that people are wanting my help and it means there's more people I can offer my knowledge and experience to. Not just with PT'ing but with massage, I love to make my sessions educational rather than doing it and not explaining. It meas that my clients learn what I'm doing and why rather than not knowing the research and reason behind the different techniques and movements i choose to do. My two original clients; Brett & Steven, have always been really amazing at asking questions and actually WANTING to know why I get them to do the things they are and it makes me happy knowing that they have that need for knowledge. Their initial goal when they first came to me wasn't to increase fitness and get stronger, it was actually to learn and become more confident about what they're doing in the gym which is, I think, one of the best reasons to do it. I'm still learning myself, everyone is here. It's impossible for everyone to know everything about a topic. Especially when certain things are really individual and specific to a certain characteristics etc. For the last month, I've been training with another PT from Lifestyle; Lee Fontana. By training with someone else, it's helped me focus a lot more on doing the actual exercises rather than getting bored & tired whilst training on my own.
We've been focusing on whole body strength & because we're both pushed for time as to when we train; we use supersets to keep the intensity high. Twice a week has been the usual set up since we started however now the weather has gotten colder and darker earlier; I've been unable to go out on walks around the Lake District with my boyfriend like I love doing! However, this week we have decided to up it to 3 sessions a week! On Tuesdays, we start off with 3 sets of 12 Hip Thrusts with 50kg superset with 17.5kg barbell Stiff Legged Deadlifts. Then moving on to using the Abductor and Adductor machines at 45kg on both; again with the 3 sets of 12! After this we go on to Dumbbell Flyes which I just use 3kg weights with as I have instability in my shoulders and i really struggle to maintain control with my shoulder joint throughout the movement, but I've progressed a lot with keeping them steady since we started so I'm definitely happy with that! We finish off the session with a little ab work which we use a swiss ball to perform sit ups on so the full range of motion is done throughout the movement. Call me crazy but I do love ab work not gonna lie! |
